Circuit Clinical has nabbed a major partner in the world of clinical trial as it looks to continue its momentum in 2022.
The Buffalo-based startup has signed Medidata, an international life sciences technology company, as an exclusive partner and investor.
Circuit Clinical is seeking to build a clinical trials network outside of major hospital centers, allowing physicians and patients to participate in cutting-edge therapies where they live.
The startup already works with LabCorp, the clinical laboratory giant. Medidata will bring Circuit Clinical sites to its online RAVE platform, greatly expanding access to physicians and patients.
Founded by cardiologist and CEO Irfan Khan, Circuit Clinical doubled in revenue last year. Khan said the goal is to use the company’s partnerships to fuel that level of growth this year.
“The goal for the year ahead is to get full value from these incredible partnerships,” Khan said. “That’s where the work is. We are well-capitalized, we have great partners and we have a big challenge in front of us too.”
Medidata participated in Circuit Clinical’s $27 million Series C round of funding, which the company is finalizing. Medidata will also appoint an observer to Circuit’s board of directors.
Circuit Clinical has 65 employees and has continued to recruit throughout its organization, including to its executive management team.
With Medidata and LabCorp on board and the funding round nearly complete, Circuit Clinical stakeholders will see a company preparing for a new level of execution, its leaders say. That includes expanding its infrastructure to keep pace with market demand and adding top-end talent.
The partnership with Medidata greatly expands Circuit Clinical’s potential network. The startup’s TrialJourney platform, in the meantime, will allow patients enrolled in those trials to provide realtime feedback on the experience.
“We are scaling for the next set of challenges,” said William Maggio, a senior adviser to the company. “The industry is looking for a disruptor in the clinical trials space.”
