Odoo sees 'kaboom' effect in move to Seneca One Tower – Buffalo Business First – The Business Journals

Of all the business stories to come out of 2020, a global tech firm choosing Buffalo as its East Coast headquarters rates as a strong surprise.
But ever since Belgium-based Odoo established Seneca One Tower as a hub of sales, operations and customer support, the experience has surpassed expectations.
“Odoo was pitched on the community, on building a bigger and better Buffalo,” said Nicholas Kosinski, the Williamsville native charged with leading Odoo’s East Coast operations. “Having that momentum continue to progress has amplified our satisfaction that much more.”
Odoo, which offers a suite of business management software, chose Buffalo after a community-wide recruitment effort that ranged from leaders of M&T Bank to 43North to the University at Buffalo and others. The firm has a sizable operation in San Francisco, and eventually plans to hire hundreds of workers in Buffalo. It was approved for the Start-Up NY tax breaks program.
Kosinski said 15 Odoo employees have been hired in Buffalo so far, primarily supporting the direct-sales segment. In the coming year, highly skilled implementation consultants and channel sales personnel will be brought on board.
The region’s affordable, high-aptitude workforce was a major selling point for the company, and Kosinski said the point has been proven in practical terms. Graduates from local colleges, particularly the University at Buffalo, along with experienced sales personnel from existing industries, are being onboarded.
“We have been happy and surprised with the talent we have been able to collect from the Buffalo ecosystem,” Kosinski said.
The team worked from mid-September to late November in the tower, before being sent to work from home because of rising Covid-19 infection rates in the community. But Kosinski said that brief taste was enough to showcase the atmosphere at Seneca One.
“You felt that buzz, that energy,” he said. “Once the floodgates open and people get here in full force, it is going to go kaboom. It is not going to just be a place where people show up for work. It’s going to be much more than that.”
